Boston-area craft beer maker Castle Island Brewing is doubling down on its home market, today announcing a multi-year agreement for a seasonal beer garden located just three miles from the brewery’s namesake landmark at a recently developed site known as Underground at Ink Block.
Castle Island Brewing is turning to the lager category for its latest year-round offering, and the first beer in its core lineup to break out of the IPA family, the aptly named American Lager.
Meet Geonbae, CIBC’s pilot pale ale. The name, a Korean word for “cheers” (pronounced “GON-bay”), is a nod to the location of this year’s Games, and $1 from every pint purchased is going towards the Team USA Fund.
On the heels of its recent taproom opening, Castle Island Brewing Company is expanding its core line-up with the release of Hi-Def, a new Double IPA. Hi-Def marks the first addition to the core lineup that will be available throughout Castle Island’s distribution network since the Company opened its doors in late 2015.
Since opening Castle Island Brewing on the outskirts of Boston in December 2015, founder Adam Romanow believes he’s missed out on as much as $50,000 per month in direct-to-consumer sales as a result of not having a taproom. That will change in June, when the Norwood, Massachusetts-based craft brewery opens a 1,500 sq. ft. taproom with capacity for 100 drinkers and 16 rotating draft lines.
Massachusetts’ Castle Island Brewing Company has expanded its capacity for the second time in 15 months. Brewery founder and president Adam Romanow told Brewbound that increased demand for his company’s core beers — Candlepin Hoppy Session Ale and Keeper IPA — led to the installation of three new 60-barrel fermentation tanks that increased the brewery’s capacity to more than 13,000 barrels annually.
Castle Island Brewing Company is ringing in the new year with the announcement of its newest beer, and an updated look for one of its first beers.
A year after opening for business, Castle Island Brewing Company is releasing ONE, the brewery’s first imperial stout, to celebrate their one-year anniversary.
Desalitech today announced the achievement of record-breaking reverse osmosis water recovery rates of 96% at the Padre Dam Advanced Water Reclamation plant in Southern California and 98% from the Charles River for use by local brewers.
After successful launches in three other Massachusetts markets, Castle Island is now taking its growing brand to the North Shore. Beginning this week, the brewery’s beers will be available as far North as the New Hampshire and Maine borders. Castle Island has partnered with Danvers-based Merrimack Valley Distributing Company to bring its beers to the territory.
Just seven months after opening, Castle Island Brewing Co. is already adding capacity to keep up with increasing demand in the market. The company’s core beers — Candlepin and Keeper — have become mainstays amongst Greater Boston retailers, and are now available in over 650 locations.
With the help of Massachusetts Beverage Alliance, Castle Island launched Candlepin, its flagship hoppy session ale, into broader distribution in early January. Shortly thereafter, the company introduced Keeper, a “new age” IPA brewed with Columbus, Simcoe and Cascade hops. The brewery also hired Sam Puopolo, an experienced craft beer sales rep, as the company’s first sales manager.
After more than four years of planning, capital raising, test-batching and building, Castle Island Brewing is officially open for business.
