The search for the next CEO of Heineken N.V. has met its end beyond the beer industry. The Dutch brewing giant’s supervisory board has named Rafael (Rafa) Oliveira as the company’s CEO and executive board chair, according to a press release. If Oliveira’s nomination is approved at the company’s August 5 shareholder meeting, his four-year term will begin October 1.

Kirin-owned New Belgium Brewing – including the Voodoo Ranger-powered New Belgium brand and Bell’s Brewery – now ranks as the largest non-Brewers Association craft beer family, overtaking Molson Coors’ craft brands, according to data released in the trade organization’s May/June edition of the New Brewer magazine.

Alex Carreteiro has been named president of Heineken’s Americas business, the Dutch brewing company announced last week. Carreteiro, who will take the position on March 1, will fill the vacancy left by Marc Busain, who left the company in October to become CEO of Lipton Teas and Infusions.

Heineken N.V. has struck a deal to acquire Florida Ice and Farm Company S.A. (FIFCO) in Central America and Mexico, the companies announced Monday.

President Donald Trump’s reveal of sweeping tariffs on Wednesday included a 25% tariff on all imported beer and empty aluminum cans. Those tariffs are expected to go into effect at 12:01 a.m. EDT Friday, April 4.

Non-alcoholic (NA) beer claimed a record 4.2% share of beer category grocery sales during Dry January, according to an analysis by Bump Williams Consulting chief strategy officer Dan Wandel. NA beer recorded double-digit year-over-year (YoY) increases in dollar sales (+23.5%) and volume (+20.2%) in U.S. food stores tracked by market research firm NIQ for the four-week period ending February 1.

Another Heineken executive is moving over to the Lagunitas team. The Heineken-owned, Petaluma, California-based craft brewery announced today the appointment of Peter Green as head of sales. Green will officially take over the role on March 1.
