Red Shed Brewery to Open New Tap Room

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – This Friday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m., Red Shed Brewery, the only farm brewery in the Cooperstown area, will officially debut its new tap room. The event will be marked by a special ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce.

The new space will be the first and only brewery in the area to feature their own fresh, handcrafted beers made with local ingredients and other New York state farm brewers with a live music venue and beer garden. With an intimate capacity of 99, the tap room will feature 20 beer taps and live entertainment provided by local bands and performers with chefs and trucks serving the best fare central New York has to offer.

The tap room will showcase its signature Red Shed beers and accompanying recipes brewed in the styles known in the U.K. and throughout Europe, but using the best of local ingredients, as well as other farm brewers such as Butternuts Beer and Ale and Cideries from various areas of New York. Live entertainment will take place every weekend with the line-up featuring emerging artists and local favorites, in addition to hosting spoken word events on a 12-foot stage and state-of-the-art sound system.

Guests of all ages can experience the new tap room. Children can play games such as yard dice and cornhole in the 3,000-square-foot yard that includes a view of the rolling hills of central New York, picnic tables and outdoor live entertainment in the summer months. Guests may also bring dogs up to 50 pounds and food for their own picnics.

At 2,400 square feet, the space will also be available for private events with seating for 48, with seven tables and full bar. Outside catering is permitted. For buyouts, the space can accommodate up to 99 standing guests.

“Red Shed Brewery is a family business that caters specifically to locals,” says Jack Hasbrouck, founder, Red Shed Brewery. “Currently, we employ four employees and we are looking to expand the staff over the next two years.”

Remaining true to its New York roots, Red Shed Brewery currently holds the New York Farm Brewers license, which was created to strengthen and support New York economic growth. In 2013, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed it into legislation. To receive a Farm Brewery license, the beer must be made primarily from locally grown farm products and after Jan. 1, 2024, with no less than 90 percent of the hops and 90 percent of all other ingredients must be grown or produced in New York State. Red Shed Brewery is one of only 176 to hold this license.
