Video: Jim Koch Toasts Brides and Grooms With New Brew

Boston Beer Company Founder Jim Koch hosted nearly 250 beer fans today at the Samuel Adams brewery in Jamaica Plain for the release of the company’s latest creation, Brewlywed Ale.

The beer, a limited-edition, 750 mL cork-topped offering was brewed specifically with newlyweds in mind.

“Unquestionably, beer is the centerpiece of a great wedding,” Koch said in a company press release. “I brewed a special recipe for my own wedding and kept the tradition going by brewing the first batch of Samuel Adams Noble Pils for my daughter’s wedding day. With Brewlywed Ale, we’re celebrating the specialty-beer tradition with our drinkers while honoring a custom dating back to Middle Ages.”

Only 350 cases of the special brew were on sale to the public this morning and some folks even began lining up at 4 a.m. just to get a taste. Company spokesperson, Jessica Paar, said that visitors traveled from as far away as Ohio, Michigan, Virgina and Florida to get their hands on the beer, which is only being made available at the brewery. Three couples even tied the knot in the brewery’s beer garden.
