On October 24, River North Brewery will bid a final farewell to its original location at 2401 Blake Street in Denver.

The brewery’s building was recently slated for demolition to make way for an apartment redevelopment in one of Denver’s hottest neighborhoods, River North, for which the brewery is named.

To commemorate the demise of their first home, the brewery will host “Funk the Man,” a month-long tongue-in-cheek tribute to cash over community. River North will also release a series of brett saisons from its barrel archives – the official “Funk the Man” beer.

Funk the Man #1, aged in cabernet barrels, kicks off the festivities on October 10th. Funk the Man #2, featuring hibiscus, debuts on October 17th. And Funk the Man #3, with black currant, will serve as the capstone for the final hurrah on October 23rd and 24th. The entire FTM series will be available on tap and in 375ml bottles during their respective release parties.

“I believe this series of beers perfectly captures how we feel about the demise of 24th and Blake,” Matt said. “It’s sad to leave our first home, where we’ve made countless friends. But I think Funk the Man – the beer, at least – does it justice.”

The final day at the brewery taproom will be October 24th. River North’s new location at 6021 Washington Street will open around the end of the year.

Matt and Jessica Hess opened the award-winning River North Brewery in February 2012.  Located in the heart of the RiNo district, Denver’s premier craft brewing neighborhood, River North focuses on Belgian-style and barrel-aged beers. The brewery was recently named 2015 Brewery of the Year in the Best of Craft Beer Awards.  Follow River North on Twitter/Instagram (@rivernorthbrew) and Facebook (facebook.com/rivernorthbrewery) for the latest insights.
