Heavy Seas to Release Red Sky at Night

BALTIMORE, MD — Craft beer drinkers will soon be given the opportunity to enjoy Heavy Seas Beer’s Saison ale, Red Sky at Night. The seasonal release will once again be available from July to September in all 18 states where Heavy Seas Beer is distributed.

The rustic farmhouse ale features spicy, fruity and tart flavors with hints of banana, apricot, clove, and allspice. The flavor profile is delicate, yet deeply complex. According to Christopher Leonard, Brewmaster and Operations Manager, “For 2014, we’ve slightly tweaked our Red Sky at Night. Its fruity, herbaceous flavors and aromas are enhanced by Slovenian hops, which lend some floral notes. We still use the same dynamic strain of Belgian yeast and incorporate light candi sugar, but have further developed the beer’s complex balance, enhancing the finish to provide a crisper, more drinkable brew.”

Fun Fact: The name of Red Sky at Night comes from the mariner saying: “Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky at morning, sailor take warning.”
