Dry Dock Brewing Releases Chocolate Raspberry Porter

dry-dock-smallAURORA, CO — Dry Dock Brewing Company is releasing the Chocolate Raspberry Porter in 22-ounce bomber bottles on Thursday, December 18th at Canoe Room at North Dock. This beer will be available exclusively at Canoe Room on December 18, 19, and 20.

The Chocolate Raspberry Porter is brewed with dehydrated, seedless raspberry powder and cacao nibs. This dark brown porter has rich flavors of chocolate malt, coffee bitterness, and subtle ruby notes.

This beer was made using dehydrated, seedless raspberry powder from North Dock’s neighbors, Ticklebelly Desserts. “I experimented with it in a couple barrels of Imperial Stout and we liked it so decided to use more of it,” says North Dock Head Brewer Brett Williams.

“We also used organic cacao nibs from Ghana,” says Williams. “Nibs are just crushed up cacao beans, the precursor to chocolate— basically chocolate before sugar or anything else is added. They are the ideal way to impart chocolate flavor in beer because, when added after fermentation, you get the dry cocoa flavor without adding bitterness, astringency, sugars (which would ferment in the bottle) or fats and oils which would affect mouth feel and appearance.”

Williams made Nutella and raspberry jam sandwiches for the North Dock crew on the day the Chocolate Raspberry Porter was bottled.

Chocolate Raspberry Porter

7% ABV, 33 IBU

Ruby highlights sparkle ever so slightly from the heart of this dark brown porter. Bold chocolate malt flavors are softened by flaked oats, cacao nibs, and Northwest raspberries, adding a luxurious depth of flavor and tempering an already subtle coffee bitterness.

food pairing suggestions: Nutella and raspberry jam sandwiches, vanilla ice cream, chocolate desserts.
