Ballast Point Announces Festival Aboard Maritime Museum of San Diego

SAN DIEGO — On Sunday August 11, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits will hold its 17th Anniversary Party & Beer Festival aboard the Maritime Museum of San Diego, with all proceeds to benefit the Maritime Museum.

The event, which will run from 1-5pm on Aug. 11, will feature over 40 Ballast Point beers, including several barrel-aged and rare selections. Tickets for the event are $40 and will include admission to the Maritime Museum of San Diego, 15 3oz beer tasters, and a souvenir tasting glass.

“We haven’t held an Anniversary Party in three years, and we wanted a really unique venue,” said Jack White, Ballast Point CEO & Founder. “The Maritime Museum is the perfect fit with the Ballast Point brand, and we couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy some fine beer than aboard these historic vessels.”

Attendees will be able to sample beers aboard three of the Museum’s vessels–the Star of India, the H.M.S. Surprise, and the Steam Ferry Berkeley—and will be able to tour all of the museum’s ships and submarines.

“We are thrilled the proceeds from the event will go toward preserving their fleet and building the San Salvador, after which two of our beers are named,” continued White.

The Maritime Museum is currently working toward completion of a full-sized, fully functional, and historically accurate replica of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s flagship, San Salvador. Ballast Point currently brews two beers in the seasonal San Salvador Series: a summer saison and a winter lager. They will have the summer saison available in limited quantities at the Anniversary Party.

The event will also feature live music on multiple stages, as well as food for purchase from local vendors including Gaglione Brothers, Taste of Maine, Root Cellar Catering, and Kona Kakes and Plates Hawaiian BBQ.

About Ballast Point

What started in 1996 as a small group of home brewers who simply wanted to make great beer evolved into the adventurers known as Ballast Point. From bringing a hoppy twist to a porter, or adding four types of malt to its amber ale, to creating a breakthrough gold-medal winning IPA, the San Diego-based company is known for adding its own touch and asking if there’s a better way. Today an internationally recognized leader in the craft brewing and spirits industry, the company makes over 40 styles of beer and bottles five spirits.
