Avery Celebrates the Holidays with “Craft and Crafts”

Boulder, CO — The Avery Brewing Company wants you to keep it crafty this holiday season. On Sunday Dec. 1st the brewery will host “CrAft and CrAfts: Handmade Beers and Handmade Gifts” where attendees can peruse local, handmade gifts while drinking local, handmade craft brews.

This is the third year that Jess Steinitz, Avery’s Marketing and Events Specialist, has organized the event through the Sisterhood of the Hop, a women’s beer group that Steinitz leads through the brewery.

“I seek out craft fairs because I want to buy goods that are made by folks who enjoy their craft and take pride in what they create,” Steinitz said. “I like hearing the story behind what the artist is selling because when I buy a decoration for my home or a piece of jewelry or a gift for someone, I don’t just want it to be off a store shelf…I want it to be memorable. I want to spend my hard-earned money on items that were given personal attention, and I want my money to go directly to artists so that they can continue creating. I feel the same way about beer. It matters to me where it’s from, who made it and the passion they put into it. I love this craft fair because it’s a celebration of this community’s local artists, whether they work with silver, wood, wool or hops. Plus, where else can you drink and shop?”

In addition to celebrating the local, handmade spirit that is so important to craft brewing and this community, Steinitz and Avery Brewing also want to use this event to raise money for an important cause. So at 3pm they will tap a special keg of 10lb. Strawberry Wit, a Belgian-Style White Ale with 10 pounds of artfully added fresh strawberries. Proceeds from every pint sold from that keg will benefit Women’s Bean Project, a non-profit organization in Denver that works to change women’s lives by providing stepping stones to self-sufficiency through social enterprise.
