The brewing industry is no stranger to change. From ingredient shortages to evolving consumer preferences, modern brewers face a complex mix of challenges and opportunities. This August, leaders from across the brewing world will meet in Palm Desert, California, to navigate the changes reshaping the industry.
Brewing Summit 2025, taking place August 13–15, is not just another industry conference—it is a pointed response to a brewing ecosystem that is rapidly evolving. Organized by the American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) and the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, Brewing Summit brings together the science, craft, and business of brewing in one collaborative environment.
Expert Speakers
This year’s keynote speakers bring a mix of perspectives that reflect where the brewing industry is headed, offering an optimistic take in the face of current challenges.
Peter Skrbek, CEO of Deschutes Brewery, will deliver the Opening Keynote. Skrbek has overseen the company’s national expansion and led its entry into non-alcoholic beer. His address will explore how large craft brands can adapt to changing consumer expectations while maintaining core identity.
Kevin Asato, Executive Director of the National Black Brewers Association, will take the stage on Thursday. Asato’s career spans over 30 years and includes leadership at companies like Anheuser-Busch and PepsiCo. His keynote will highlight the importance of inclusive leadership, brand development for BIPOC-owned companies, and building equity across the beverage sector.
The Closing Keynote comes from Jason Perrault, CEO and head hop breeder at Yakima Chief Ranches and CEO of Perrault Farms. A fourth-generation farmer, Perrault is known for pioneering sustainable hop cultivation and developing new hop varieties. His talk will focus on how agricultural innovation is shaping brewing from the ground up.
30+ Technical and Scientific Sessions
Brewing Summit 2025 dives deep into the issues shaping today’s brewing landscape, offering a curated blend of science, strategy, and practical application. As the industry expands beyond traditional beer styles and ingredients to meet evolving demands, this year’s sessions will explore alternative grains, advanced hop innovations, and the rise of non-alcoholic and THC-infused beverages.
Discussions will go beyond technical execution, addressing critical practical concerns, with topics including sustainability, shelf life, and microbial stability—all key to maintaining quality in an increasingly complex market. Sessions will also address brewing’s evolving regulatory and sensory challenges, offering research-backed insights alongside real-world case studies.
With a scope and focus on collaboration, the program brings together brewers, scientists, and engineers to tackle both big-picture trends and everyday hurdles. Whether it’s improving quality, managing supply chain pressures, or developing inclusive brewing practices, Brewing Summit creates space for practical solutions and bold thinking.
Network with the Brewing Community
While the agenda offers a rich array of educational content, Brewing Summit 2025 also emphasizes the importance of community. Networking opportunities are built into every day, from morning coffee breaks to an evening hospitality suite.
In addition, poster sessions and exhibitor happy hours offer a chance to discuss research and explore new products in a casual setting, and Thursday evening’s “Bites & Beer” event brings together attendees and vendors in a relaxed environment that encourages collaboration.
