San Diego, Calif. – The OGs of San Diego craft beer are back at it. Karl Strauss Brewing Company, the brewery that sparked the city’s craft beer movement in 1989, is reviving an annual fan-favorite just in time for the Halloween season: Peanut Butter Cup Porter, the latest in its Ridiculously Limited Release series, hits shelves at major retailers and taps on Thursday, October 16.

This decadent brew blends peanut butter, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee into a full-bodied porter with a rich, slightly dry finish. It’s bold. It’s brave. And it’s brewed for those who know that growing up doesn’t mean giving up your sweet tooth or your standards. At 5.6% ABV, it’s a smooth sipper that doubles as the ultimate Halloween candy for beer lovers. Think of it as your grown-up loot bag, all in a pint glass—no costume required.

“Peanut Butter Cup Porter is like opening your favorite Halloween treat but for grown-ups,” said Brewmaster Paul Segura. “There’s nostalgia in the flavor, but with the depth and character we’re known for. We love bringing it back each year, and the fans have made it clear, they do too.”

Available on draft and in four packs of 16-oz cans across California, Arizona, and Nevada, the beer combines dedication to the highest quality with Karl Strauss’ signature approachability. It’s easy to drink without playing it safe, full of flavor without the fuss—brewed with precision, but not pretension. Guests can also join us at any one of Karl Strauss’ nine brewpubs across SoCal, where the party is still going strong with the brewery that started the craft beer revolution.

As Part of its 2025 community commitment, Karl Strauss will donate $1 from every pint of Peanut Butter Cup Porter sold on release day at its nine brewpubs throughout Southern California, plus 1% of this beer's California retail sales, to Restaurants Care. This California Restaurant Association non-profit organization works to support and advance those at the heart of California’s food and beverage community during life's most challenging moments.

So, whether you’re planning your costume or skipping the party altogether, Peanut Butter Cup Porter is your permission slip to indulge and to drink something daring.
