Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. Announces the Grand Opening of Their Third Location: Miracle Mile

Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. announces the grand opening of their third location: Miracle Mile. Located off of McDowell and 14th in the Miracle Mile neighborhood, Arizona Wilderness is excited to breathe new life into the area. The grand opening of Miracle Mile will take place on April 24, 2025.

The McDowell Miracle Mile neighborhood was originally the first shopping district outside of Downtown Phoenix in the 1940s. Over the years, the neighborhood experienced high vacancy rates and blight, killing the area once driven by local business owners. Since 2014, there has been an effort to rejuvenate the area, making it safer and more walkable for residents.

“I’ve been inspired by old adaptive reuse buildings since the first time I walked into Four Peaks back in college,” said Pat Ware, Arizona Wilderness Brewing co-founder. “It sets the tone for raw authentic ambiance rather than a manufactured facade.”

“Patrick and I have always been attracted to the older buildings of Phoenix built in a time when architectural nuance had its heyday,” said Jonathan Buford, Arizona Wilderness Brewing co-founder. “We had been searching for several years to find a new home for our brewing operations when we learned of this building in the Miracle Mile neighborhood of Phoenix. It was love at first sight! There are certain details that you just can't manufacture; only time can add these certain beautiful nuances. The bricks had a certain patina to them. The domed roof seemed like it was from ancient times. It had unnecessary alcoves, seemingly added only for aesthetic - which made it even more perfect. This building has a heart to it and was begging for love, as too is the neighborhood it stands in. A neighborhood that has been grossly overlooked by a sprawling Phoenix. What a wonderful neighborhood it is, worthy of what it has coming its way.  After seeing dozens of new builds to no avail,  there was life back in our hearts when we sealed into this beautiful new home. 1418 McDowell was the answer to, ‘Where do we go next?’!”

Arizona Wilderness Miracle Mile fits the mission to rejuvenate the old with the new, bringing a fresh community experience to the table.

Arizona Wilderness Miracle Mile will feature an all new locally sourced scratch menu, touting items such as the Smash Slider Trio, Steak Wedge Bowl, Big McDowell Burger, and so much more. Arizona Wilderness partners with local farms to bring the highest quality ingredients to their restaurants. One of those partners, Arizona Grass Raised Beef, is providing the Arizona grass-fed savory steak, and another, James Beard award-winning Barrio Bread providing the bread needed for the mouthwatering steak sandwich called “The Miracle”.

“I'm excited to showcase what we do at AZ Wilderness in collaboration with our amazing farmers and ranchers, sharing our passion for Arizona with our guests and community,” Arizona Wilderness executive chef David Cruz shared.

With the launch of the new location, Arizona Wilderness is also releasing a new beer: Miracle Mild to tell the story of the neighborhood. The beer is a Traditional English Mild, utilizing 100% Sinagua Malt, barley grown, malted, kilned, and saving water in the Verde Valley.

“Each of our locations has a signature beer that represents each location in some way,” said Brad Miles, Arizona Wilderness Brewing’s head of production. “Gilbert has Refuge, Arizona IPA, and DTPHX has La Ciudad, Hazy IPA. The Miracle Mile Brewery is intended to be a brewpub for the surrounding community. Historically an English Mild is what patrons and publicans would drink in their local pubs. With Miracle Mild I'm trying to create a beer that represents Arizona and celebrates community with a local take on a traditional style.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the grand opening of Arizona Wilderness Miracle Mile on April 24, 2025.
