BrewDog Denver & Urban Sky Team Up to Launch Urban Galaxy IPA

DENVER, CO (Jan. 22) – BrewDog Denver and Denver-based aerospace pioneers, Urban Sky have teamed up on a cosmic collaboration to launch Urban Galaxy (8.5% ABV), a Black Juicy IPA that has touched the edge of space. The beer will be exclusively on-tap at BrewDog Denver for a limited time.

Urban Galaxy is the result of an experiment where BrewDog Denver, led by Head Brewer Elliot Knight, sent Galaxy hops—a variety known for imparting bold tropical fruit flavors—into the stratosphere aboard Urban Sky’s Microballoon™ to see how near-space conditions affect the chemical properties of brewing ingredients. As the hops left the atmosphere, they were flash-frozen, and the zero-gravity environment allowed the oils responsible for bitterness and flavor to separate and intensify naturally. This exploratory journey was also made possible by the sponsorship of Propagate Lab, who provided the yeast. The resulting beer blends roasted malt flavors with hoppy, citrusy notes, creating an out-of-this-world flavor profile of pine, space dust and dark chocolate.

BrewDog Denver will be celebrating the beer’s official launch with a release party at their RiNO taproom, located at 3950 Wynkoop St, on Friday, January 24 from 5-10pm. Open to the public, attendees to the event will be among the first to taste this beer that has reached new heights, with Exclusive Tastings and Meet the Brewer sessions held every hour, on the hour, from 5pm to 8pm. Spaces will be limited, so interested guests are encouraged to RSVP in advance via the event Facebook page. Those who share moments on social media using hashtag #UrbanGalaxyExperience will also get a chance to win an exclusive Beer School tasting experience with Elliot, among other prizes.

The celebration continues until January 26 with Happy Hour specials each day from 4-6pm, offering fans the opportunity to sip on Urban Galaxy for just $5 a pour.
