There is a gap in the drinks market that has not been filled for centuries. The market for Mexican cider is tiny with only one or two brands. Therefore your only option if you want a cold, sparkling, refreshing beverage is a Cerveza, a market dominated by the likes of Corona and Modelo. But what if you are gluten free and can’t drink beer? Or simply don’t like it?
Next time you go to a Mexican restaurant, the largest chains in the UK; Wahaca, Las iguanas, Tortilla, look for a cider on the menu, some won’t have any and those that do, it most certainly wont be Mexican.
Sagrado Blanco is a lightly sparkling alcoholic beverage made from 100% blue webber agave, the first of its kind in the world. Inspired by Ancient Aztecs recipes such as Pulque and Vino de Mezcal, it’s refreshingly sweet and at 4.3% ABV, perfectly sessionable, not to mention gluten free and vegan!
Pulque is one of the oldest recorded alcoholic beverages dating back to the pre Aztec era, made from the Sap of the Agave plants leaves (pencas). It was a sacred beverage at the centre of communities, drunk at festivals and celebrations and worshipped by many. Although Sagrado retains the cultural traditions of bringing people together and utilising as much of the Agave plant as possible, Sagrado Blanco is made from the heart of the Agave, a very similar process to that of Tequila, but instead distilling we just add bubbles at a strength that will let you have fun and enjoy the flavours of the Agave plant. Think of it like Tequila and cider had a baby!
It's time the drinks industry was shaken up with a new innovative product and Sagrado is doing just that, expanding the Agave beverage category and offering a new alternative to Beer and Cider.
