Wynkoop Brewing Company Releases Cottonwood Organic White for Fundraiser

DENVER, CO – March 30, 2012 at 5 PM, Wynkoop Brewing Company will host a party for the release of its latest beer, Cottonwood Organic White.

An unfiltered, American-style wheat beer, Cottonwood Organic White is made with organic malts and wheat, kaffir lime leaf and organic agave nectar. The custom-made beer is fermented with an American strain of wheat beer yeast and is 4.6% ABV.

Designed for springtime quaffing, Cottonwood Organic White is a refreshing yet complex beer with a creamy body, bready malt and wheat flavors, restrained hops and vibrant citrus notes.

“This beer needs no lime or orange slice added to it,” says head brewer Andy Brown. “The kaffir lime leaf gives it just the right amount of citrus character, built right into the beer.”

Wynkoop is donating fifty cents from the sale of each draft of the beer to Denver’s Cottonwood Institute, an environmental education nonprofit group that works with inner-city students and local schools in the Denver/Boulder area.

Wynkoop is also donating the profits from special glasses and T-shirts bearing the beer’s logo, which was created by local design house AOR.

Attendees at the event (which is sponsored by Denver’s 5280 Magazine) will be able to purchase the first drafts of the beer and the Cottonwood Organic White shirts and glasses.

“We’ve had a great partnership with Wynkoop Brewing Company over the years,” says Cottonwood founderFord Church. “But a beer created on our behalf takes things to a new and higher level. The beer and this event help us raise awareness and the critical funds we need to connect kids to the outdoors.”

“Plus,” Church adds, “we love to work with businesses that are as committed to sustainability as we are. With its longtime sustainability initiatives, Wynkoop has been a green leader in Denver long before the “green” term was popular.”

Cottonwood Institute staffers will be at the event to discuss how the institute is inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Representatives from other environmental, recycling and sustainability groups will also be on hand, including Greenprint Denver and Alpine Waste & Recycling.

The draft-only beer will be available at Wynkoop Brewing Company and a small number of Wynkoop vendors in the Denver area.
