Stratford, CT — Two Roads announces a double sequel–The return of Roadsmary’s Baby Rum Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale and Via Cordis Abbey Single.
Aged in Caribbean-sourced rum barrels that were fresh from the distillery, Roadsmary’s Baby Pumpkin Ale is made using real pumpkins, vanilla beans and spices to yield an incredibly complex, delicious beer with layers of different flavors to savor. If last year’s batch is any indication, this one will go scarily fast.
Starting Tuesday, August 4th at noon in our tasting room, Roadsmary’s Baby will be available in pints, tasters and growlers. It will also be available in packaged form in our Merchandise Room and the broad market in 6-pk bottles and for the first time in cans. Lastly, the brew will also be hopping onto our Fall “Beer Bus” variety can pack.
Latin for “road to the heart,” Via Cordis is a Belgian-style Single Abbey Ale and its name honors the centuries-old link between religious abbeys and beer. Traditionally, the monks brewed this flavorful, lower alcohol brew for their own consumption and it was not made available to the public.
The Via Cordis recipe was created collaboratively between Brewmaster Phil Markowski and Sacred Heart University biology professors Geffrey Stopper and Kirk Bartholomew. The beer is golden in color with a biscuity malt flavor balanced by a delicate noble hop character. The authentic Trappist yeast sourced from a brewery in Belgium contributes a fruity/spicy complexity and highly refined Hallertau hops add a floral, herbaceous quality.
The beer will go on sale in the tasting room on August 5th. A limited amount of 22 oz. bottles and draft will hit the broad market that same week. A portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships for Sacred Heart students.
