Worldkeg to Release Disposable Stainless Steel Keg

Breweries, wineries and producers of other beverages and liquids that want to export their products in kegs finally have an alternative to reusable kegs made from stainless steel and disposable PET plastic kegs.

CoolSystemKEG GmbH from Franconian Fuerth and its managing partner, Brewmaster Gerd-Albrecht Graf, have developed the patent-pending WorldKeg, a disposable stainless steel keg that combines the advantages of stainless steel kegs with those of a one-way container. The WorldKeg weighs only 2.3 kg despite a stainless steel body and is therefore not heavier than a PET plastic keg. In contrary to the competition the keg is 100% tasteless, light and gas tight, up to 7.5 bar pressure stable and completely recyclable. TÜV Thüringen and the packaging institute of the VLB in Berlin have independently certified the equivalence of WorldKeg with reusable stainless steel kegs in terms of pressure resistance and sensory quality even after forcing tests over longer periods of time with temperatures of up to 60 ° C as it may happen during container export.

The new product, manufactured in Germany, can be filled with minor modifications one very conventional keg filling line without major investments. Tapping is easily done with tapping pressure up to 5 bar by connecting the beer and the gas tube to the patent-pending dispensing head. Two adapter pieces, which are as well as the dispensing head enclosed to every WorldKeg, allow to tap the WorldKeg in every bar around the world without any additional equipment.

The stackable slimline design makes it possible to stack 32 filled 30-liter kegs in two layers on a one-way pallet, so 640 kegs can be shipped in one single20-foot container. Therefore WorldKeg has in comparison to other types of beverage packaging the best possible use of space in a container and thus offers the cheapest logistics costs per hectoliter. In addition to the 30 liter container, WorldKeg will also be available in 20-, 15- and 10-liter kegs.

WorldKegs are delivered to the customer steam sterilized and carbon dioxide pre-pressurized with pressures of 1.5 bar. This makes cleaning and sterilization of the container in the keg filling line redundant and hygienic and sterile filling is always guaranteed.

With costs that amount to only one third of an ordinary reusable stainless-steel keg and which are only slightly higher than that of PET plastic kegs, WorldKeg is a true alternative for all breweries and beverage producers that want to export their products at competitive prices but without compromising quality.

The first WorldKegs produced in large series will be delivered to customers within the next two months. WorldKeg International and its managing partner Peter Schill, a graduate brewing engineer  and MBA(IESE), is in charge of international sales as well as licensing production abroad. The WorldKeg team will present its new product at the »drinktec« trade fair in Munich, Hall A1 – Stand 444 from September 11 to 15, 2017.
