Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Releases Safehouse Saison

SAN FRANCISCO — Speakeasy Ales & Lagers is back in the business of brewing seasonal beers that are carefully executed by its madcap team of brewers. With 17 draft lines at their onsite San Francisco taproom and its nationwide network of distributors, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers expands their exclusive small batch portfolio to feature new beers in summer 2018. The Perfect Crimes Series is an unsuspecting lineup of ingenious beers that may only appear once, so the perpetrator can’t be brought to justice. Speakeasy Ales & Lagers reveals its latest limited edition racket in the series, Safehouse Saison, a 6.2% ABV farmhouse-inspired saison brewed with black peppercorns. Safehouse Saison is now available nationwide as a draft-only release, and will be included in Speakeasy’s late summer variety 12-pack.

Bright and golden, Safehouse Saison is a rustic take on the Farmhouse style originating from Belgian and French farmers brewing beers to quench their thirst during the summer months. Fruity and spicy esters dominate the aroma with a hint of peppery spice. Black peppercorns compliment the aromatic Belgian yeast strain resulting in a smooth mouthfeel with subtle malt character and a lingering finish.

Whether enjoying Speakeasy’s newest brew at their Bayview-Hunters Point taproom, a favorite local bar, or the sanctuary of your own home, Safehouse Saison is summer’s secret libation sure to satisfy beer drinkers’ desire for a full-flavored easy drinking ale.

Attention San Francisco beer aficionados! On Saturday, May 19, be the first to try Safehouse Saison at a special guided tasting at Speakeasy’s taproom (1 pm, RSVP via https://www.facebook.com/events/243941839683117). Sacramento Beer Week features the exclusive pre-release of Safehouse Saison at select bars, including The Limelight (May 17, 7pm) and University of Beer (May 20, 1pm).

About Speakeasy Ales & Lagers

Speakeasy Ales & Lagers has been defiantly brewing small batch beers in San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood since 1997. The brewery started with a single iconic beer, still made today, Prohibition Ale. The hoppy amber beer embodies the spirit of bootleggers and gangsters who persevered when America’s taps ran dry. Speakeasy quickly gained a loyal following with its bold, complex beers, and striking 1920s imagery. Speakeasy’s kingpin Big Daddy IPA is the brewery’s highest seller among its wide array of celebrated beers, from session ales to bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts. In 2013, the Speakeasy Taproom opened serving thousands of local craft beer lovers with fresh draft beer to be enjoyed onsite or to-go in growlers and crowlers.

Speakeasy’s original 15 barrel brewing system was replaced in 2015 during a major expansion, which included a 60 barrel brewhouse, centrifuge, malt handling system, canning line, and an additional 1,200 barrels of fermentation capacity.

Hunters Point Brewery LLC, a company founded by former owner of Horizon Beverage Company, Ces Butner, acquired the Speakeasy beer brands and brewing equipment in 2017. Under new ownership, Speakeasy Ales & Lagers will grow by leaps and bounds. The brewery’s trademark eyes, ubiquitous and cryptic, beckon you to join our mob, no password required.

Speakeasy Ales & Lagers’ taproom is located at 1195 Evans Avenue, San Francisco, CA.
