SHIFT BREWER

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Shift Brewer to join our brewing team. As part of our dedicated team, the Shift Brewer plays a crucial role in the production process, ensuring consistency and excellence. The Shift Brewer will be responsible for executing brewing operations, monitoring fermentation, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the overall quality of our beers. We are looking for an individual that is motivated to advance their career in brewing and possess an outgoing personality and ambitious attitude while conducting themselves in a friendly and positive manner. This direct hire role offers a competitive compensation ($21-$25/hr), comprehensive benefits package, and a dynamic work environment that encourages diversity, professional growth and creativity. Responsibilities:

  • Perform all operations necessary for wort production, separations, cellar, cleaning, and all activities required to complete the production schedule on each assigned shift
  • Assist the Lead Shift Brewer in the successful completion of the production schedule
  • Perform duties and tasks as requested by Brewing Manager(s) and Shift Lead in support of the brewing team
  • Communicate schedule deviations with other operations departments as needed
  • Knowledgeable on all Shift Brewer and Cellar tasks, relevant SOPs and safety programs,  reporting required maintenance and safety issues
  • Coordinate with the Lead Cellar Technician to prioritize malt handling, cellar tasks, and overall brewery cleanliness/organization/sanitary and provide initial and ongoing training to cellar staff
  • Monitor inventory of raw materials, chemicals, brewery parts and equipment, personal protective equipment, production department consumables and equipment and manage yeast inventory
  • Complete lab tests when necessary to include cell counts, pH, alcholyzer and TA
  • Properly log and maintain production data and perform routine sensory analysis on wort and beer in production and report irregularities when necessary
  • Communicate with the current and incoming shift to ensure a complete information exchange at each shift change

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Brewing Science, Fermentation Science, or related field is preferred with 1+ years cellaring work experience in a commercial brewery
  • Understanding of brewing science, including yeast propagation, fermentation kinetics, and beer chemistry
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot brewing equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices in a brewery setting
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions both indoors and outdoors
  • Experience with electric pallet jacks, mechanical pallet jacks, mechanical tote lifts, fork lifts
  • Organized, quality control and sensory analysis experience, and beer production
  • Adhere to comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practices
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods
