SouthNorte Beer Co. Releases 2 Beers

SAN DIEGO, CALIF – A new kind of brewery is hitting the scene with the goal of transporting craft beer fans to the crossroads of cultures. This is a place where industrial meets old-fashioned and barrio meets beach. SouthNorte Beer Co., an American craft brewery that blends the rustic flair of Mexico with the art of San Diego craft brewing, is officially debuting on taps and shelves in the San Diego area.

In recent years, the beer industry has seen an increased demand for both craft beers and Mexican imports. Additionally, U.S. consumers are getting more adventurous with their palates overall. SouthNorte saw this as the perfect opportunity to give consumers a uniquely flavorful and cross-cultural experience through its beers.

Combining the artisanal expertise of the San Diego craft beer scene with the free-spirited experimentation found in Mexico’s breweries, the first two beers from SouthNorte offer unique, adventurous flavor combinations in a way that’s authentic to the brewery’s border-town roots.

Sea Señor! — This is SouthNorte’s interpretation of a classic Mexican Lager. This beer is clean and crisp with a sweet, bready maltiness. Noble European hops give the beer a floral and spicy bitterness with a dry finish.

No Güey! (Pronounced “no way”) — This beer is an ode to the popular street food south of the border – fresh mango sprinkled with Tajín. Our version is a hop-forward IPA bursting with tropical fruit, and a lingering chili spiciness that’s slightly earthy.

The inspiration for the brewery and its first two beers stemmed from Brewmaster Ryan Brooks’s time spent living in Tijuana and absorbing the local culture.

“From the art and music scene to the breweries and nightlife, there’s an excitement and energy that’s developed in Tijuana in recent years,” said Ryan Brooks, Brewmaster, SouthNorte Beer Co. “We wanted our beers to capture that spirit and essence of Mexico along with the flavors.”

In addition to the south of the border influence, SouthNorte draws from the experience and expertise of the well-known San Diego craft beer scene. SouthNorte proudly displays the Brewers Association independent craft brewer seal. This symbol gives beer lovers an easy way to identify true independent craft breweries.

SouthNorte Beer Co. will temporarily brew at Coronado Brewing Company’s facilities until a future site for the new brewery can be secured. Distribution for SouthNorte will initially focus on the San Diego market, with plans for organic growth into other relevant key markets.
