Down The Road Releasing Strawberry Rhubarb Berliner Weisse

Boston, MA — This month, Down The Road releases the latest beer in its Feyborn Berliner Weisse series, this time with strawberry and rhubarb. This classic combination is the essence of summer for many New Englanders, and delightfully compliments the bright, puckering qualities of this well-received staple of Down The Road’s summer lineup.

“With the Cherry Feyborn, we noticed that the beer had a pie-like quality,” explained Donovan Bailey, owner and brewmaster of Down The Road. “So Strawberry Rhubarb was a no-brainer.” Nonetheless, this batch of Feyborn is truly unique as the only Massachusetts-brewed Berliner Weisse to combine these mouth watering flavors. At 4.5% ABV, this sessionable sour is approachable yet sophisticated and absolutely crushable.

As with all of its beers, Down the Road’s Berliner Weisse draws on the folklore of its region of origin. Feyborn is a reference to the myth of the changeling child – a faerie that assumes the form of an infant to blend in with human society. The myth has been used to rationalize the anxieties, frustrations and tragedies associated with raising children. Characterized as a wild child with flowing golden locks, a mischievous grin, pointed ears and an animated tail, our Feyborn is nothing but trouble.

Strawberry Rhubarb Feyborn will land on shelves starting the week of July 10th. This is a limited release, for the Feyborn is by its very nature capricious. Look for it on draft and in 16 ounce four packs wherever good beer is sold.
