Denver, Colo. — Next month, River North Brewery will celebrate its third anniversary with a four-day extravaganza! Continuing in the tradition of pushing boundaries with their anniversary beers, River North’s brewers have crafted their strongest offering yet.

Anniversary Ale #3, a 17.2% ABV Bière de Garde, will kick off River North’s birthday party Friday, February 13th at1pm!

“There aren’t many ways to spin this. We wanted to push our limits,” Founder and Brewmaster Matt Hess said. “Bière de Garde is such a beautiful, balanced beer style. And while Anny 3 may test the definition of balance, it’s certainly a thing of beauty.”

Bursting with notes of stone fruit and complemented by undertones of anise and citrus, Anniversary Ale #3 finishes with a pleasant warming sensation. The beer will serve as the centerpiece for a weekend-long gauntlet of rare tappings. Events include:

  • Friday, February 13th: Anniversary Ale #3 kickoff tapping! Both draft pours and bottles-to-go will be available starting at 1pm. Bombers will cost $15 with a half-case limit, and the beer will remain on tap all weekend.
  • Saturday, February 14th: Side-by-side-by-side tapping of Anniversary Ales for Valentine’s Day! Anniversary #1 (12.5% Stout), Anniversary #2 (10.2% Golden Strong Ale), and Anniversary #3 kegs will all tap at 1pm. Both of the previous year’s vintages are the last keg in the brewery. Roaming Bull Brasserie, a local food truck, will also join the party.
  • Sunday, February 15th: Cellar sale! River North will dig through their reserves and sell rare bottles from the past year, starting at 1pm. An official list and format will be released later, but look for beers from the past two years to be included. The taproom will also host a beer and donut pairing from local bakers Bronuts.
  • Monday, February 16th: Since it’s Presidents’ Day, the taproom will open early at 1pm, and the brewery will continue to tap rare kegs throughout the day.

While Anniversary Ale #3 will be on tap all weekend, River North also has a reserve of specialty kegs like Barrel Reserve 2013 & 2014, Whiskey Barrel Quandary 2013 & 2015, Big City Quad, Oud Bruin and J. Marie Barreled & Bretted. Follow the brewery on social media for tappings as they happen. Many of these kegs are the last of their kind.

More bottles of Anniversary Ale #3 will hit store shelves in Colorado following the release party. The high-alcohol nature of the beer makes it ideal for aging.

Matt and Jessica Hess opened the award-winning River North Brewery in February 2012. Brewing in the RiNo district of Denver, River North focuses on yeast-centric beers with Belgian-style flair.
