Quality Beverage to Acquire Williams Distributing
Massachusetts’ leading Anheuser-Busch InBev distributor expands into Western Massachusetts
TAUNTON, MA (August 19, 2019) – Pending supplier approval, Quality Beverage LP, one of the largest independently owned beer wholesalers in New England, announced the acquisition of Williams Distributing, encompassing distribution rights throughout Western Massachusetts and a distribution facility in Chicopee MA. With this transaction, Quality Beverage is now the single largest stand-alone beer distributor in Massachusetts as well as the state’s leading supplier of Anheuser-Busch InBev brand products.
Williams Distributing was founded in 1950 by William Sadowsky and has operated in Western Massachusetts under three generations of family ownership. In addition to Anheuser-Busch InBev products, the Williams’ portfolio includes leading national brands such as Constellation and Yuengling, along with leading local craft brands such as Harpoon and Wormtown. The transaction is expected to close in October. Terms of the pending acquisition were not disclosed.

Since its founding in 1987, Quality Beverage has enjoyed consistent growth. In 2013, the company merged with the leading Anheuser-Busch distributor in Central Massachusetts, encompassing Worcester and more than 40 nearby communities while expanding operations into two divisions located in Taunton and Auburn. With the acquisition of Williams, Quality Beverage L.P. will service more than 130 cities and towns in Bristol, Hamden, Hampshire, Norfolk, Middlesex, and Worcester Counties delivering to over 3,400 retail licensed accounts.
