RALEIGH, N.C. – Mims Distributing Company, a wholesale beverage distributor in North Carolina, has added Olde Hickory Brewery to its lineup of brewing partners. The Hickory, North Carolina-based brewing company offers more than 14 handcrafted beers, including Death By Hops India Pale Ale, Ruby Lager, the Unfiltered Hefe-Weizen German-Style Wheat Ale, and the recently released Omega Point. In addition, Mims Distributing Company will distribute two of the brewery’s annual special barrel-aged brews – Lindley Park and The Event Horizon, which has been voted as the best beer in North Carolina for the past two years by RateBeer.com.

Founded in 1994, Olde Hickory Brewery is North Carolina’s fourth-oldest continuously operating microbrewery. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the brewery began with just a seven-barrel converted dairy system. In 1997, they began the renovation of an 1880 historic landmark building, which now houses Olde Hickory’s brewing facilities, a 25-barrel Price Schonstrom brew house.

Olde Hickory believes that great beer is the result of meticulous attention to detail throughout the brewing process. Their beers begin life as fresh water that flows from the granite slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and culminates in small batches less than 800 gallons each. Olde Hickory’s beers are and have always been brewed using only select grains, robust hops and cultured yeast, with no additives or preservatives.

North Carolina has quickly become one of the fastest growing markets for craft beer production and consumption. Since 2010, the number of craft breweries in the state has more than doubled, creating more than 10,000 jobs and generating an annual economic impact of $791 million.

“We are really excited to announce our partnership with Olde Hickory Brewery,” said Chip Mims, CEO of Mims Distributing Company. “Olde Hickory Brewery has been brewing incredible beers for over 20 years and we are honored to be able to work with them. Mims cannot wait to bring the best of Blue Ridge brews to beer lovers in the area.”

“Olde Hickory is looking forward to partnering with Mims Distributing and bringing more great North Carolina craft beer to thirsty Triangle beer lovers,” said Steven Lyerly, brewmaster at Olde Hickory Brewery.
