Nine Pin Cider Expands Distribution to Connecticut

ALBANY, N.Y. — Nine Pin Cider Works, New York’s first farm cidery, has announced they will begin distributing their cider products throughout the State of Connecticut in partnership with the Berkshire Brewing Company (BBC).

Nine Pin’s entry into Connecticut marks the second state, following Massachusetts, where Nine Pin Cider can be found outside of the company’s home state of New York. Starting this month, Connecticut cider drinkers will begin to find Nine Pin cans, bottles, and draft options at select locations.

“Nine Pin is excited to continue to expand distribution into New England. Connecticut makes the most sense for our next expansion, given its geographical position between New York and Massachusetts – states that already carry our products. We are confident that the people of the Nutmeg State will enjoy drinking New York apples,” said Alejandro del Peral, co-founder and cider maker.

Founded in 2013, Nine Pin crafts it’s variety of cider products at its 17,000 sq. ft. tasting room and production facility in Downtown Albany. As a farm cidery, Nine Pin produces cider from apples sourced entirely from New York orchards, and is permitted to sell directly to the consumer as well as self-distribute. Distribution partnerships with Remarkable Liquids in New York State and BBC in Massachusetts and Connecticut have allowed Nine Pin’s reach to grow far beyond its Albany-area boundaries.

The Upstate N.Y. cider producer will host a launch event on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. at City Steam Brewing (942 Main St., Hartford) with both del Peral and director of sales, Joshua Whelan, on hand.

“Pouring Nine Pin at City Steam, for me, is a huge deal. I was brewing in Albany when they started fermenting in plastic totes. Now, they have stainless steel tanks touching the ceiling and have become a staple of New York’s Capital Region and beyond. World class cider produced by cool, down to earth people using locally sourced product from outside Albany, the apple state, and more importantly, my home. What more could you ask for? Welcome to Connecticut, Nine Pin. Time to blow the doors off this little state,” said Sam Pagano, head brewmaster at City Steam Brewing in Hartford, Conn.

Movie theater operator Bow Tie Cinemas will be the first theater chain in the state to carry Nine Pin products at select locations. Bow Tie carries Nine Pin products in their Upstate N.Y. locations that serve beer, wine, and cider.

“At Bow Tie Cinemas, we are always looking to expand our craft beverage selection to best serve all of our customers. Our goal is to partner with local producers because we want to support the communities that we are a part of. We think movie goers are going to be very excited about being able to purchase Nine Pin at our Connecticut theaters,” said Joe Masher, chief operating officer of Bow Tie Cinemas.
