Berkeley, Calif. – The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a popular Coastside venue best known for its come-as-you-are atmosphere, fresh seafood and award-winning, craft beer, will open its first outpost: Pacific Standard by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a taproom and bottle shop with a cool, relaxing coastal vibe in the heart of Berkeley, in Summer 2016. Dedicated to setting the bar for craft beer on the West Coast, Pacific Standard by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company will offer a wide variety of 15 to 20 local and regional beers on tap, with up to 50 percent of the beer sourced from the on-site brewery at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.

Under the direction of lauded brewmaster James Costa since 2013, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company has introduced a number of renowned beers, including the Full Swing IPA and California’s first beer made using recycled water. Winner of a gold medal at the 2015 U.S. Open Beer Championship, a silver medal at the 2015 California State Fair, and Best in Show at the 2013 California State Fair, the Brewing Company has set the standard for craft beer in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past sixteen years.

In addition to craft beers, the taproom will offer a rotating assortment of ciders and Northern California wines, while the on-premise bottle shop will feature growlers and a large selection of exceptional, unique beers from the Bay area and beyond.

Federico Godinez, the executive chef at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, also serves in this capacity at Pacific Standard. Under his guidance, the menu at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company evolved to one that expertly fuses California Coastal cuisine with elements from all over the culinary map, resulting in dishes bursting with freshness and global flavors. At Pacific Standard, Chef Godinez has crafted a small, eclectic menu featuring locally sourced meats, cheeses and produce to complement the taproom’s local beer, wine and cider.

To develop the concept for Pacific Standard, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company’s general manager, Nate Rey, enlisted the expertise of Joel DiGiorgio, a Berkeley-based food and beverage consultant with Farm League Design & Management Group, and promoted Half Moon Bay Brewing Company manager Kyle McCarthy to director of development.

“We’re excited to expand our footprint beyond Half Moon Bay and introduce a new community to our extensive selection of top-quality, hand-crafted beers, and feature brews made by other West Coast breweries,” said Rey. “At Pacific Standard, we want our guests to experience the very best elements of the Coastside in an urban, casual environment.”

With custom décor, eclectic elements and an urban location, the atmosphere at Pacific Standard by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company strikes the perfect balance between refined, cool and approachable. Natural wood colors and large, communal tables give the space an intimate feel with recessed lighting and pin lights illuminating the bar.

Pacific Standard by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is set to open in Summer 2016 at 2055 Center Street in Berkeley, Calif. The taproom will be open seven days a week. Additional information may be found at pacificstandardtaproom.com.
