Bangor, ME –– Today marked the start of something new and exciting for the Geaghan’s family, who have been in the restaurant business since 1975-their brews are now available in stores.
Their flagship beer Smiling Irish (Bastard), made its retail debut in six packs around the Greater Bangor area. As production in their new facility in Brewer starts producing beer at a regular pace, distribution will increase to points North and East of Newport where Maine Distributors distributes to. Their first brew day in their new facility was less than a month a go. Typically their brews in draft form go sixteen days from grain to glass, bottling and distribution add a few more days to the cycle.
“It is a very exciting time for us, not just because the craft beer industry as a whole is growing to all parts of Maine, but also as a family. July marks our 40th anniversary as a family owned and operated business,” said Andrew Geaghan, owner and head brewer. This is something completely new for us, as was building the first brewery three years ago.”
The brews will be available initially at various retail locations in the throughout Greater Bangor and Down East including Hannaford locations from Bangor to Bar Harbor, Foster’s On the Run stores, Walmart, Paradis and Tiller & Rye in Brewer, Bob’s Kozy Korner in Orrington, Bells’ Orono IGA, and several other locations. As supply increases distribution will grow to other regions.
Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. will be adding the list of locations to their website geaghans.com as well as to their social media pages. Coming out later this year will be The Queen City Sampler-a variety pack with three staple brews and Brewers’ Choice seasonal.
Geaghan Brothers Brewing Company started in 2011 as part of the family owned and operated Geaghan’s Pub, that originally opened in 1975. Geaghan Bros. Brewing Co. offers a variety of craft beer styles brewed locally in Bangor and Brewer, and can be found throughout Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Washington, Aroostook Counties in restaurants and retail locations.
