Florida Beer Company Sold

Florida’s third largest brewery has been acquired.

Indian River Beverage Corporation, which operates under the name Florida Beer Company, was purchased by the ANSA McAL group of companies based in Trinidad and Tobago, Brewbound has learned.

ANSA McAL owns the Carib Brewery based in Trinidad, which produces more than one million barrels of beer annually. The Florida Beer Company purchase marks the company’s first U.S. brewery acquisition.

“The milestones attained by Carib Brewery through the abundance of heritage and quality, have earned us the distinction of bringing quality life to the Caribbean diaspora and beyond,” Anthony Sabga III, ANSA McAL Group’s head of beverage said via a release. “We are proud of our local roots and enthusiastic at the prospect of this new addition to our three other breweries located in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Official financial terms of the stock purchase were not disclosed.

Founded in 1996, the Cape Canaveral-based Florida Beer Company produces about 35,000 barrels annually.

Law firm Greenspoon Marder, via its alcohol beverage industry group, represented ANSA McAL in the transaction.
