Dominion Brewing Looks to Broaden Distribution in 2013

Dominion Brewing yesterday announced the expansion of its distribution footprint to include Ohio and Michigan, the 7th and 8th states where beers from the brewery are now sold.

Earlier this month, the Dover, Del.-based company rolled out its Oak Barrel Stout, Hop Mountain, Double D IPA and Morning Glory Espresso Stout brands through Premium Beverage Supply in Ohio and Rave Associates in Michigan.

“Both Ohio and Michigan have excellent craft beer markets and the craft distributors have exemplary infrastructures in place,” said Lauren Bigelow, a spokeswoman for Dominion.

Dominion Brewing shares a production facility with sister brewery Fordham Brewing. Together, the breweries operate under the holding company Coastal Brewing Co., which is partially owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Fordham Brewing beers are not part of the new distribution agreements in Ohio and Michigan, Bigelow said. Coastal Brewing will also extend distribution of its Dominion line into New York but a specific launch date has not been set.

“We see the Dominion brand eventually being distributed to everywhere East of the Mississippi and North of Virginia,” Bigelow said.

Coastal Brewing made 24,000 barrels of its Dominion beer in 2012 and is projecting 27,000 barrels produced in 2013. Top sellers for both brands include Dominion Oak Barrel Stout and Fordham Rams Head IPA.
