DESTIHL Brewery Expands Distribution to Colorado

destihlBloomington, IL – In a new agreement announced today, DESTIHL® Brewery, of Bloomington, Illinois, and Elite Brands of Colorado will join forces to distribute DESTIHL’s acclaimed and award-winning craft beer brands throughout Colorado.

“Our distribution agreement with Elite Brands is an exciting opportunity for DESTIHL beers to become available in one of the country’s best craft beer markets,” says DESTIHL founder, Brewmaster and CEO, Matt Potts. “Ever since we started going to GABF® in Denver back in 2011, the feedback from Colorado residents about our beers has been incredible. In that first year at GABF, when 6 out of 10 of our beers on the festival floor were impactful sour beers, we were placed on many beer bloggers’ and media lists as one of the top brewery discoveries of 2011, and it’s only grown from there. It was that warm welcome for our beers in Colorado that really inspired us to open our new production brewery last year. So, being able to now distribute our beers throughout Colorado will be like coming full circle for us, and we could not be more thrilled to work alongside such a well-respected distribution partner that has demonstrated enormous craft beer knowledge, diligence and passion that is so important for our very unique portfolio of beers.”

Beginning in January, DESTIHL will launch a diverse selection of its beer brands, including draft kegs and 4-packs of 12-ounce cans of its hugely popular Wild Sour Series (both Here GOSE Nothin’TM and Flanders Red) as well as Hoperation OverloadTM Double IPA, Vertex IPATM and Abbey’s Single® (a Belgian-style Abbey Single Ale), with WeissenheimerTM Hefeweizen cans and draft coming out later in the Spring. The launch will also include coveted releases of draft kegs and 500ml bottles of its Quadrupel, Bela® Imperial Pilsner, AntiquityTM Rye Wine, DosvidanyaTM Russian Imperial Stout (bourbon-barrel aged), 1920TM Stout Imperiale (a Belgian-style imperial stout aged in a Cognac foudre for over a year), Wild Sour Series – Adambier (an almost extinct dark German-style sour ale), and, of course, the Colorado-embraced and multi-award winning Saint Dekkera® Reserve Sour Ales, which are spontaneously fermented sour ales that have been barrel-aging for well over a year now at the brewery’s new production brewery.

Beginning next summer, Colorado will also start receiving DESTIHL’s draft kegs and 500ml bottles of its Belgian-inspired beers such as Saison de Ruisseau TM, Saison de Noir TM, The Duke of Normington TM Saison Imperiale and then Dubbel. Some other beers in the draft lineup will include Tenebrous® Black RyePA, Black Angel® Stout, AmraTM (Mango) IPA and SamhainTM Pumpkin Porter, among others.

DESTIHL’s beers are expected to arrive in Colorado within a couple weeks, just in time for a mid-January launch.

To prepare for this growth, DESTIHL is also increasing its capacity again by adding an additional 60bbl brew kettle at the end of March 2015 to work alongside its existing 27bbl kettle, and it is also adding in January 2015 a third additional, dedicated 60bbl ‘Wild Sour Kettle’ which will enable the brewery to produce its sours 24/7/365. The new production facility enabled DESTIHL to now add over 400 oak barrels and some French foudres to its already successful sour beer program, with plans to have over 1,000 oak barrels in use by the end of next year. The brewery recently also added another row of fermenters as well. This expansion will help the brewery meet the growing demand for its beers in places such as Colorado and its other great markets.
