Catawba Brewing Releases Small-Batch Dry Irish Stout

MORGANTON, N.C. — Catawba Brewing has just released a Small Batch Dry Irish Stout (4.1 percent ABV) – following last week’s Irish Red Ale (5.6 percent ABV). The two Irish-style beers will be featured at St. Patrick’s Day celebrations held at all four Catawba tasting rooms. Also, look for a special cask beer to be tapped on Saturday as part of the festivities in Asheville and Charlotte.

Dry Irish Stout is Passport Beer #11 in Catawba’s 2018 Small Batch rewards program. It honors centuries-old brewing methods, using raw, unmalted barley to provide the beer’s distinctive sharp coffee aroma and bitterness. The flavor profile is rounded out by notes of semi-sweet chocolate and mildly burnt toast. Its characteristic creamy mouthfeel is enhanced by the nitro treatment at Catawba’s Asheville South Slope tasting room.

At Catawba’s Charlotte location, Dry Irish Stout is a fundraiser beer for Hook Line & Heroes, supporting disabled military veterans in the area through guided fishing trips and other outdoor activities. Catawba will donate a portion of proceeds to the non-profit.
