Catawba Brewing Releases Charlotte-Made Eclipse Pale Ale

Charlotte, NC — Catawba Brewing is releasing a landmark beer in celebration of the rarest of occasions. Nearly 23 years ago Catawba Co-Owner, Jetta Pyatt, purchased a homebrew kit in Charlotte that would inspire a family business. After the Pyatts recently returned to the Queen City to open a new Catawba satellite brewery, the first original Charlotte-made Catawba beer is scheduled to arrive on Monday, August 21, 2017. It just so happens that’s the same day of a total solar eclipse – the first time in 38 years the Carolinas have fallen in the path of totality!

Brewed with three specialty malts, this classic American Pale Ale radiates a brilliant golden hue with rich malt character. Fresh Centennial hops lend bold flavor notes of citrus and pine with well-restrained bitterness. This is the perfect refreshment to accompany mid-afternoon nightlife, returning you comfortably to the light after a memorable encounter with darkness.

Eclipse Pale Ale (5.6% ABV / 35 IBUs) will be available at Catawba’s four tasting rooms. Asheville South Slope and Charlotte locations are hosting viewing parties on the release day, opening at 2pm and 1pm, respectively. The beer will also see limited distribution, with special events planned in Nashville, TN and Columbia, SC.
