Braven Brewing Signs Lease for Bushwick Brewpub

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Today Braven Brewing Company, the craft beer maker based in Brooklyn, NY, signed a long-term lease to open a brewery, bar, and restaurant at 52 Harrison Place in their home neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn.

“For the past five years, we have been working every single day toward opening a brewery here in the historic brewing neighborhood of Bushwick, and we’re just a few months away from finally making that dream a reality,” said Marshall S. Thompson, Co-Founder and CEO of Braven. “Eric [Feldman] and I are thrilled to finally have a brick-and-mortar location in Bushwick where we can directly connect and engage with our community every day.”

Over the course of the next several months, Braven plans to install a 3.5 BBL fully-electric brewing system with an annual brewing capacity of approximately 1,000 BBL of beer in the 2,500 sf space, previously occupied by beer hall and restaurant Lantern Hall. The small and nimble system will allow Braven to brew a wide variety of styles for both on-site consumption and takeaway purchase. While most of the beer brewed at 52 Harrison Place will be consumed in the on-site bar/restaurant, Braven will distribute a limited supply of specialty kegs to accounts around New York City via their distributor, S.K.I. Wholesale Beer. Braven plans to brew a constantly rotating variety of classic lagers and ales as well as innovative styles to keep pace with current, exciting trends in the craft beer industry.

Since December 2014, Braven had been brewing its beers at Olde Saratoga Brewing Company in Saratoga Springs, NY until they recently ceased operations in January. Braven will continue to brew large batches of its styles at Ipswich Brewing Company in Ipswich, MA while brewing small batches at the new Bushwick facility.

“When Marshall and I started homebrewing in my tiny apartment kitchen back in 2009, we had a couple of brews that we shared with close friends at small parties,” said Braven Co-Founder and President Eric Feldman. “Now we’ll be able to produce a huge variety of beer styles – from classic altbiers and doppelbocks to innovative sours and dry hopped IPAs – that we’re excited to share with the whole city.”

In addition to brewing and serving their own beers at the bar, Braven will operate a sixty-seat restaurant. The menu will include beer-pairable pub fare like burgers, wings, and sandwiches. Whenever possible Braven’s beers will be incorporated into the dishes themselves, such as Beer Cheese Nachos and White IPA-Marinated Chicken Bratwursts.

“This was a great deal and Braven will be a great addition to the neighborhood,” said Jeff Wong of Lantern Hall.

Braven is planning to open its brewpub doors in mid-summer 2018.
