Beer Institute Announces Staff Promotions

The Beer Institute (BI) has promoted several team members, including Susan Haney, who was elevated to senior VP of public affairs, the trade group announced Wednesday.

In her new position, Haney will oversee the public affairs, federal affairs and operations teams. She joined the BI in 2001 as the executive assistant to the organization’s president, a position she held for nearly 10 years before being promoted to director of operations in 2010, according to her LinkedIn profile. In addition, Haney served as the BI’s senior director of industry affairs from 2012 to 2015.

Haney’s prior role was director of operations, a position to which Sandra Castro is being promoted. As director of operations, Castro will manage the BI’s human resources, information technology, finance and accounting needs.

Following the departure of former senior director of public affairs Dan Roth in October, director of media relations Alex Davidson has been promoted to director of public affairs. In this role, Davidson will oversee the BI’s public affairs and remain the organization’s media contact.

In addition, former staff assistant Jordan Zuccarelli has been promoted to manager of special projects. Zuccarelli will be tasked with playing “an even more integral role in helping the public and federal affairs teams execute strategic projects and third-party relationships.”

“I am extremely proud of the team we have built at the Beer Institute,” president and CEO Jim McGreevy said in a press release. “Susan, Sandra, Jordan and Alex have been instrumental to our work representing the more than $330 billion beer industry and the more than 2 million jobs it supports.”
