5X5 Brewing Co. Hires Army Veteran as Lead Brewer

MISSION, Texas — 5×5 Brewing co. welcomes Army Veteran and Rio Grande Valley native Esteban Phillips as the lead brewer.

Phillips earned his certification in Brewing Sciences from South College of Knoxville, TN and most recently worked as a cellar person and brewer at Rahr and Sons Brewing Company in Fort Worth, TX. He previously worked as a cellar person at Blackhorse Pub and  Brewery, and Fanatics Brewing Company in Knoxville, TN.

“We are excited to welcome Esteban into our ranks,” said George Rice, President of 5×5 Brewing Co. “We are passionate about hiring veterans into our organization, and the fact that he is both an Army Veteran, and a commercial brewer has been a huge win for our brewery.”

“My wife and I wanted to move back home to the Valley,  so off of a hunch, I reached out to 5×5 Brewing Co. where I was greeted right away,” said Phillips. “Being a veteran I sensed a great deal of camaraderie. I could relate to their mission statement and am happy to join this awesome team of craft beer vets.”

Phillips has jumped right into his role and is already putting his stamp on 5×5 Brewing Co.
