Earlier today, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company announced it would be building an east coast location in North Carolina. Three different press releases discussing the announcement made the rounds around the web and we got them all below.
It’s official. Sierra Nevada is heading for North Carolina. The venerable craft brewer — the second-largest in the U.S. — announced plans today to build an East Coast brewing facility in Mills River, a town 12 miles from downtown Asheville –nicknamed Beer City USA.
The mad scientists at Bull & Bush Brewery are playing with hops. A process which they are calling Whole Hop Infusion involves steeping hops (and beer) in a french press for up to ten minutes. The Hendersonville (N.C.) Times-News reported today that Sierra Nevada Brewing Company will announce plans this week to build a new facility at the Ferncliff Industrial Park in Mills River, North Carolina.
David Peacock, who has served as the president of Budweiser and Bud Light maker Anheuser-Busch since 2008, has resigned. Left Hand Brewing posted a photo to its facebook page yesterday of their new 500 barrel Rolec brite tank being installed at the brewery. A brite tank holds beer that has been filtered and is ready to be packaged. Company spokesperson, Emily Armstrong, tells us the new tank will mainly be used to hold big… Read more »
Draft Magazine compiled their annual list of the 100 best beer bars in the U.S. The list is broken down into four regions: The West, Midwest, Northeast and South. Also, Draft Mag took the time to denote which new bars made the list.
It’s been 30 years since Narragansett beer was actually brewed in Rhode Island, but company President Mark Hellendrung said it’s ‘highly likely’ that will change in 2012. Naples News Daily reports that another large brewery startup is in the works, this one boasting plans to brew upwards of 100,000 barrels per year. Southwest Florida Brewery Co., has reportedly secured $20M of the $40M needed to finance the project -a 40,000 square foot facility that will employ 60 people.
Publicly traded beer conglomerate Craft Brewers Alliance (CBA) has changed its name to Craft Brew Alliance. The makeover comes complete with a new web site and an updated logo. Atlanta, Ga. based Sweetwater Brewing is waving goodbye to Sch’Wheat, their sessionable pale wheat ale, just a few months after it took home a gold medal from the 2011 GABF. Brewery spokesperson Steve Farace explained that the decision to axe Sch’Wheat was done to make room for ‘all the new brews 2012 will offer.’
The Boston market saw its fair share of craft brew startups in 2011 and the trend continues into 2012 as Night Shift Brewing has been cleared for brewing by state officials.
