Warrenton, OR – Laura Ulrich, Small Batch Brewer at Stone Brewing, has been elected president of Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women in the brewing industry. She replaces founder Teri Fahrendorf who is stepping down in order to focus on her family and her career at Great Western Malting. Fahrendorf will continue to be an integral part of the organization.

Fahrendorf called the board of directors together in March. During that meeting she expressed her desire to transition herself out of daily management, but not before helping design the team that will succeed her. After much discussion about what PBS needs to do in the future, board member Laura Ulrich was unanimously elected president of the organization.

“I am thrilled that Laura was voted in as President by the Board,” said Fahrendorf. “Laura has been here from the beginning, and indeed she was the first young woman brewer I met in 2007 who inspired me to start Pink Boots Society. She is the right person at the right time, and she brings a fresh perspective and deep commitment to PBS.”

Ulrich has been an integral PBS member since its inception, holding a number of key positions in the organization, including Scholarship Committee Coordinator. Additionally, Ulrich has been the PBS SoCal/San Diego Chapter Leader since 2010.

When asked about her vision and goals for PBS, Ulrich replied, “Because I care deeply about the organization’s mission and its members, I’m extremely honored to be elected to serve as the next President of Pink Boots Society. Teri has done a wonderful job developing a strong organization that is designed to promote women in the brewing world, and I look forward to carrying that on. With the help of our board of directors, the next steps and goals are to nourish the organization’s full potential and develop infrastructure so more opportunities are made possible for ALL women in the brewing community.”
