Buffalo, NY- For 100 years, Shea's Buffalo Theatre has brought the magic of live performances to Buffalo. To celebrate the rich history of Shea's and its iconic "Wonder Theatre", 42 North Brewing Company is launching a special beer to commemorate this occasion.

The 'Wonder Beer' pays homage to Michael Shea's original movie house, The Wonder Theatre. This historic venue, opened in 1926, was originally a movie palace that later staged vaudeville shows and played host to the Marx Brothers, Frank Sinatra, and Bob Hope. Today, it is the crown jewel of Shea's Performing Arts Center welcoming over 350,000 guests annually.

The Wonder Beer is a one-of-a-kind beer that celebrates this historic occasion. As a west coast pilsner, The Wonder Beer, blends the crisp, clean base of a traditional pilsner with modern day hops to provide tropical, aromatic flavors. Citra, Simcoe, Cascade and, of course, Centennial hops were used in the brewing process. According to 42 North Founder, John Cimperman, "We thought this was the ideal style of beer for this historic occasion. We wanted an approachable beer style that everyone could enjoy, but also wanted to add some innovation and evolution into the process, just like our friends at Shea's continue to do."

Brian Higgins, President & CEO of Shea's Performing Arts Center, adds, "Shea's has always been a Main Street anchor where community comes together, and it's fitting that we partner with our Downtown neighbor, 42 North Brewing, to celebrate the wonder of it all. This collaboration honors the pride in the city we love, and the vibrant future we are building together in Buffalo."

The Wonder Beer will debut at Shea's Centennial Celebration at Shea's Buffalo Theatre on Friday, January 16th. After its debut, the Wonder Beer will be available at Shea's venues, local bars and restaurants across Buffalo, both 42 North taprooms, and retail locations wherever fine craft beer is sold.
