Utepils Brewing to Release Cans

Minneapolis, Minn. — On August 2nd, Minneapolis-based Utepils Brewing will begin shipping their first cans to area liquor stores, debuting with three of their most popular styles: Alt 1848 (Düsseldorf Style Altbier), Copacetic (Kölsch Style), and Ewald the Golden (Bavarian Style Hefeweizen). Each style will be available as a four-pack of 16-ounce cans.

Utepils (ooh-ta-pilz) is a Norwegian word which translates to the enjoying the first beer in the sunshine after a long, hard winter. Says Utepils Brewing’s owner Dan Justesen: “We’re not just brewing great beer—we’re also focused on creating great moments among friends. We call these Utepils moments. And by making our beer available at retail, people can make a Utepils moment happen any time.”

Utepils Brewing officially launched in February and quickly found an audience among beer lovers who appreciate traditional, European styles brewed with advanced technology and high-quality ingredients. All Utepils beer is brewed using water from the historic Glenwood Spring.

Alt 1848, Copacetic Kölsch, and Ewald the Golden are all German in origin. Details on the styles, including tasting notes, IBU and ABV percentages, can be found on the Utepils website. “We’ve received a tremendously positive response to our beers at the Utepils Fernweh Taproom, and we’re excited about sharing Utepils with a wider audience,” said head brewer Eric Harper. “We encourage people to request Utepils at their favorite liquor store.” Copacetic is already available at Target Field, and all three beers—along with additional standard and seasonal styles—are available at Utepils’s Fernweh Taproom at 225 Thomas Avenue North in Minneapolis.

About Utepils Brewing:

Nestled on the banks of Bassett Creek between Harrison and Bryn Mawr neighborhoods of northwestern Minneapolis, Utepils’ 18,000 square foot site features an iconic taproom and a full-scale craft brewery. We believe that good living comes from good brewing and that good brewing starts with honoring the traditions of brewers who have gone before us. Using tried and true brewing practices and the latest in brewing technology, we seek to create a new tradition in the Twin Cities that brings friends and families together to share time and beer with one another.
