Chicago Cubs And Old Style Continue To Play Ball

Old StyleCHICAGO – Rest easy, Cubs fans. Old Style is back at Wrigley Field for the upcoming 2012 and 2013 seasons. Pabst Brewing Company, North America’s largest privately held brewing company and makers of Old Style and Old Style Light, and the Chicago Cubs announced today that Chicago’s iconic beer and the beloved Cubs are continuing their decades-long partnership.

Old Style has been part of the Wrigley Field experience since 1950 and visitors to the Friendly Confines take pride in ordering a cold, refreshing Old Style or Old Style Light, knowing that the classic Chicagobeer is one of the ballpark’s historic traditions.

“For more than six decades Cubs fans have been drinking Old Style beer at Wrigley Field and it has always been part of the game day experience at this legendary ballpark,” said Daren Metropoulos, co-owner of Pabst Brewing Company. “It was important for us at Pabst Brewing Company to continue this long-standing tradition.”

Old Style will be hosting a Fan Appreciation Day at the Cubs vs. Astros game on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011to thank Chicago fans for their Old Style loyalty. To celebrate, Dean Metropoulos, chairman of Pabst Brewing Company, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and 62 lucky fans — one for each year of the partnership — will be randomly selected to receive Cubs Cash and Old Style gifts.

“Cubs fans have grown accustomed to enjoying a refreshing Old Style while catching Cubs baseball at Wrigley Field,” said Cubs owner and board member Todd Ricketts. “I’m excited as a fan of both organizations that the Old Style tradition at Wrigley Field will continue.”

“The Old Style and Cubs partnership is one of the longest running in professional sports,” added Evan Metropoulos, co-owner of Pabst Brewing Company. “We’re extremely excited about continuing to support the community and the city’s cherished sports franchise.”

The renewed agreement — which includes updated signage throughout Wrigley Field, more engaging fan events and additional promotional opportunities next season — is a testament to Pabst Brewing Company’s commitment to Chicago. Chicago is Old Style territory and has been for more than 100 years. Old Style is part of the fabric of the city, and the brewery has a strong appreciation for the passion and loyalty found within local neighborhoods and communities. Chicagoans can look forward to seeing and hearing more from Old Style in the months ahead, and for years to come.
