On Friday, September 8, over 100 breweries, restaurants, and festivals spearheaded by Saint Arnold Brewing Company, raised over $35,000 from their taprooms to donate to the Houston Food Bank for relief in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
As recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey continue in the Houston area, Florida is bracing for category 5 Hurricane Irma, which is slated to hit this weekend. The storm is expected to be more powerful than Hurricane Andrew, a category 5 hurricane that devastated the Bahamas and Florida 25 years ago and is considered the most destructive hurricane in the state’s history. Several Florida breweries are already preparing to hunker down.
As heavy rain from Hurricane Harvey continues to fall, causing massive flooding in the Houston area, the local beer industry is in a state of flux.

Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is releasing Bishop’s Barrel No. 16 today. Bishop’s Barrel No. 16 is another foray for the brewery into the world of blurring beer and wine. Brewer and Wood Cellar Manager Aaron Inkrott aged the Sorachi Ace Dubbel, previously released as the 2014 Icon Red, in red wine barrels from the French region of Bordeaux for 11 months with Brettanomyces, a wild yeast added to the barrels for a secondary fermentation.
For fans of Texas craft beer, the annual release of Saint Arnold Pumpkinator is considered the official start of the holiday season. An award-winning pumpkinized imperial stout from the oldest craft brewery in Texas, Saint Arnold Pumpkinator 2016 features 1,500 pounds of pumpkin, will begin appearing on draft and in 22-ounce bottles throughout Texas and Louisiana on Monday, October 17th.

Data from the National Honey Board indicates the bees flew a total of 44 million miles to provide the 800 pounds of honey in each batch of Saint Arnold Icon Gold – Honey Saison.
Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is shipping its latest creation: Saint Arnold Icon Green – 7220 Pale Ale. The brew, described as an American/German pale ale hybrid, features an experimental hop from the Hop Research Center in Huell, Germany, that until a few weeks ago was known only as Hop No. 2010/72/20. The researchers have since named it, “Ariana.”
Saint Arnold brewers came home from their annual hop selection trips to the Czech Republic with more than just Saaz hops. They also had acquired a love for fresh Bohemian pilsners. Because of this love, Saint Arnold Brewing Co., the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is releasing its latest year-round offering, Saint Arnold 5 O’Clock Pils.
