Crafting Tech for Craft Makers: Arryved’s All-In-One POS and Capital Solution for Breweries

In this Brewbound Podcast interview, Ray Latif sat down with Ron Nelson, VP of Sales at Arryved, to discuss how the Boulder-based technology company is revolutionizing the craft beverage industry with its brewery-first approach to POS systems and now, funding.

Originally founded out of Avery Brewing Co., Arryved was created to solve a challenge that many breweries still face today: finding a point-of-sale solution specifically designed for the unique operations of a taproom or production brewery.

Arryved’s dedication to the craft community doesn’t stop at software. With the launch of Arryved Capital, the company is now helping breweries scale faster by providing access to quick, flexible funding. Whether it’s a new tank, an expansion, or more barrels in production, Nelson says the process is fast and intuitive because the Arryved team already understands the revenue model and rhythms of the businesses they serve.

Speaker 1 [00:07] Hey, folks, this is Ray Latif for the Brewbound podcast. Right now, I'm honored to be sitting down with Ron Nelson, who is the vice president of sales for Arryved. Ron, great to see you.

Speaker 2 [00:17] Yeah, likewise, Ray, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 [00:19] Yes, Arryved. Love the name of your company and love the fact that you're doing some great work in the brewing industry. Talk a bit about the origins of Arryved and how you do work with brewing companies.

Speaker 2 [00:31] Yeah, so the, the origin of Arryved, um, was actually built out of a brewery, Avery Brewing in, uh, Colorado. Um, it was, they were looking for a better way to, uh, manage their point of sale, um, with, you know, There's still, there's a lot of options out there for point of sale, but um they wanted one that was more specific to the brewery space and uh hence Arryved, um, was born right through that. So, uh, we like to say that we're, we're made by brewers for brewers. Um, so we, we really try to stick to our, um, to our roots from that standpoint and, you know, not try to expand it out to other areas, um, but really try to be that, uh, one-stop shop for Uh breweries, um, and craft beverage makers, uh, in the US.

Speaker 1 [01:19] Well, it totally makes sense that you were born out of Avery because the name Arryved is spelled A R R Y V E D. So, uh, the A and the V and the Y for Avery is included in your name. Yeah, for sure. When you talk about being a one-stop shop for breweries, what does that mean? What does that entail?

Speaker 2 [01:40] Yeah, so, yeah, obviously like the, the POS market or point of sale market is, is pretty commoditized, right? Um, but really what we wanted to do is go really deep down into a specific niche, um, and focus on one. Industry in this instance, the craft beverage space that allows us to, to really dive into the problems and needs of the craft beverage makers. Um, and so instead of just focusing on like the restaurant market, for example, you know, where you You have to do food and delivery and all these different things. We focus on what craft beverage makers really care about, um, and that's inventory. Uh, it's obviously getting paid and, uh, the point of sale mechanism as a, as a big driver of that. But you also have, um, other areas where you, you gotta, uh, capitalize on as well like the inventory that you have, um. You know, hops, you know, barley, whatever the case may be, and being able to track that and see, you know, what the profitability is and some, you know, business intelligence behind how to manage the operations behind the scenes. Um, and, you know, since our focus on that specific niche, it's really allowed us to focus on those types of products rather than expanding out and being a little bit more generalized.

Speaker 1 [03:01] One of the other things that Arryved is doing is in the realm of funding, and I'd love to hear from you about how you're supporting breweries with raising capital or loans or what have you, because obviously that's another really big important part of scaling a business.

Speaker 2 [03:17] Yeah, so we know since, you know, it was brewers, you know, kind of building out the, the original, um, Arryved instance, um, you know, we know it's really hard to, to scale and build out a brewery. Um, we also know it's even harder to, to make, uh, to get money for it, um, to scale the operations over time. So, um, one thing that we've launched recently is Arryved Capital that's allowed us to, um, fund pretty quickly. Um, breweries, whether they're new or established, um, to help them grow their operations in whatever capacity they want. Um, it's allowed us to, you know, since we have a, a clear end to the, um, the revenue driven from the, from the companies that we work with, um, it's allowed us to fund these companies really quickly to help them. Drive the, the different operations that, that they're looking for. Uh, sometimes it's new products, sometimes it's new, new barrels, uh, being able to increase the, um, the number of barrels that they're operating in, more space, whatever the case may be, and you know, since we've launched this program just a few months ago, we've been able to, um, Fund close to $2 million. Um. Of, uh, of funding to the different craft beverage makers, which is awesome and kind of why we're doing it.

Speaker 1 [04:38] What is the best way to get in touch with you and your team, uh, at Arryved and will you have a presence at CBC?

Speaker 2 [04:45] Yes, we will definitely be at CBC. Um, I don't know the exact booth number, but, um, we, we will be pouring beer, beer there. Um, we get that donated from, um, a lot of our customers. Um, so come by the booth, see us there. Um, it's, I think it's one of the bigger. One's uh at CBC so uh I don't think you'll be able to miss it even if you don't have the booth number. Uh but then, you know, in order to get in touch with us, uh you can shoot us an email, [email protected]. And again, I know you already called this out. It is spelled a little bit different, A R R Y V E D dot com. Um Yeah, and those are the best ways to get in touch um or if you want to reach out directly to me, Ron. Nelson at Arrive.com.

Speaker 1 [05:29] Outstanding. Well, Ron, this has been such a great conversation. Thank you so much and let's definitely stay in touch.

Speaker 2 [05:34] Yes, absolutely, right. Appreciate you.
