Citizen Cider releases Apple Pie as part of the Bakers Dozen Series, expanding on the success of their most popular seasonal cider.
For years, Citizen Cider’s most successful seasonal release has been Cider Donut, previously called Bakers Dozen. Now, Citizen has expanded the Bakers Dozen concept into a series, releasing Apple Pie in Q1 & Q2, and Cider Donut in Q3 & Q4.
Inspired by the nostalgic memories of golden apple pies cooked fresh in grandma’s kitchen, Apple Pie marries a semi-sweet cider base with warm cinnamon and vanilla flavors. As is the case with all of Citizen’s ciders, Apple Pie’s sweetness comes directly from the natural sugars present in the apples pressed fresh in Citizen’s Burlington Vermont Press House. Citizen never backsweetens their ciders with processed sugar, giving all their ciders a natural flavor, without the cloying sweetness that can come with added sugar.
When asked about the cidermaking process, Bryan Holmes, Co-Founder of Citizen Cider, and VP of Product development says: “By fermenting a hard-cider base for structure and alcohol, then adding fresh apple cider post-fermentation, the Apple Pie production process supports both natural sweetness and fresh-apple cider character. Vanilla and cinnamon are layered in to replicate traditional pie aromatics, producing a rich, dessert-driven hard cider with balance and clarity.”
Apple Pie is on shelves now, and will stay until July when it is replaced by Cider Donut.
