Brooklyn Brewery Expands Portfolio with Lime Lager ‘Playa de Brooklyn’

Brooklyn Brewery is expanding its portfolio with the addition of Playa de Brooklyn, a bright lime lager first introduced as a small-batch Tasting Room release that quickly became a fan favorite. Crisp and easy-drinking with a vivid twist of lime, it’s launching just in time for spring and summer, but its deliciously balanced profile makes it a welcome pick year-round. Playa de Brooklyn is available nationwide now.

Playa de Brooklyn struck a chord with drinkers for its lighter, citrus-forward flavor after debuting as a limited-edition offering in Brooklyn Brewery’s Tasting Room in 2022. The popularity of the crisp, bright lager brewed with warm-weather gatherings in mind prompted a move to the core portfolio, allowing it to be more widely available for year-round enjoyment.

Brooklyn Brewery’s James Beard Award-winning Brewmaster, Garrett Oliver explains: “My summer Playa is in Brooklyn— in my own rooftop garden, lined with palm trees and drenched in sunshine, where Playa de Brooklyn is the star of my frequent barbecues. And my winter Playa is in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where I spend weeks every January recharging my solar battery until I’m back up on my roof. I created Playa de Brooklyn to capture that feeling—it takes me straight to that beautiful Mexican beach, puts sunshine on my face and palm trees over my head, no matter where I actually am. It’s a state of mind… my favorite one.”

Brewed with Hallertau and Saaz hops, Playa de Brooklyn delivers a perfectly balanced profile: fresh and zesty with a hint of lime that lifts every sip. At 4.8% ABV, this tasty lager pairs effortlessly with tacos, peach and goat cheese summer salads, jerk chicken, and Oaxaca cheese, making it a standout choice for afternoons at the beach, in the park, backyard barbecues, stoop sunbathing, and so much more. 

To highlight Playa de Brooklyn's refreshing character, Brooklyn Brewery is introducing it in clear glass bottles. The packaging showcases its inviting golden hue, complemented by bold sunburst graphics in a vivid green and pink color palette that reflect the beer’s bright, citrus-forward taste.
