Prost Brewing Co. Earns World Beer Cup Gold Medal for Biergarten Lager

As popularity of craft lagers peaks, Prost’s Leichtbier is the world’s standout Light Lager 

Prost Brewing Co., the brewery dedicated to the pursuit of German bier perfection, just earned a Gold medal for its recently released Biergarten Lager in the highly competitive International Light Lager category at the World Beer Cup, widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions. Drink like a German and try the award-winning style, now available on draft and in cans to-go, only at Prost’s four biergartens across Colorado.

Biergarten Lager is a Leichtbier (German for “light beer”), which is close in style to Helles, but lighter in body and overall flavor. Highly attenuated and incredibly crisp, this bier’s dry, balanced flavor exemplifies the style. While Leichtbier was originally brewed for physical laborers in the factories and fields of Germany, this modern day lager is meant to be paired with traditional German foods and enjoyed with friends.

Though this is not Prost Brewing Co.’s first major medal—having earned a Silver medal for their Prost Pilsner German-style Pilsner and a Gold medal for their Luna Lager collaboration at GABF 2023—it is their first World Beer Cup win. Biergarten Lager earned a Gold medal in the 6th most entered category of the contest, standing out against 191 other entries.

This is one of the first styles we released since we’ve opened our new headquarters.”

Each one of Prost’s award-winning biers begins with authentic, hand-selected malt, hops, water and yeast, crafted through the patient process of slow lagering. The team at Prost believes in preserving traditions like these, which have been perfected over centuries, in order to craft the highest quality biers possible. Biergarten Lager was produced and packaged at Prost Brewing Co.’s Northglenn brewery, opened in January of 2024. The new facility offers 60,000 square feet of the latest brewing technologies, which are blended with the techniques of the past in Prost’s unique brewing processes.
