Brewbound Frontlines: Saucey Founder Discusses E-Commerce Trends in 2020 and Stickiness of the New Business

Saucey, the e-commerce on-demand delivery service available in 400 cities across the U.S., saw its business grow 300% last year as consumers shifted their purchasing away from the on-premise channel to off-premise retailers and e-commerce services.

Founder and CEO Chris Vaughn discussed the growth of Saucey’s business, which spiked nearly 400% in March 2020 as the safer-at-home orders and on-premise shutdown took hold.

“Cart sizes started going through the roof,” he said. “People were definitely stocking up in all different categories, alcohol not being an exception.”

The surge in purchasing and cart sizes finally began to normalize during the holiday season, but Saucey’s consumer retention rate was still 10% higher than it was pre-COVID.

On this edition of Brewbound Frontlines, Vaughn shared that cart sizes nearly doubled. He also dives into how alcohol producers can stand out on the platform, and how Saucey selects retailers to join its network.
