When people hear the word ‘Score’ they likely picture their favorite sports team or a piece of music that touched their hearts, or perhaps a shady back alley deal from days of youthful indiscretions. For the finale of 2016 and at this significant milestone of maturity, Shmaltz Brewing Company looks at the word Score in a more expansive sense — Biblical (Psalm 90), Presidential (4 score and 7 years), Historical (‘I Have a Dream’). The Score defined for Shmaltz’s Anniversary marks 20 years.

Over the last 18 months, Shmaltz Brewing Company — a Jewish-themed brand sold via 40 wholesalers in 35 states — has quietly been reworking its distribution network in more than a half-dozen markets across the U.S.

This year’s Death Hoppy Black Ale is an homage to new life and the Jewish tradition of mourning. Seven days are spent mourning in Jewish culture, so when it came time to brew Death Hoppy Black Ale, Shmaltz’s Head Brewer Richie Saunders added 7 hops, 7 malts, and ended up with 7% ABV.

Following the incredible debut of Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Shmaltz Brewing Company boldly goes to the “Star Trek Las Vegas” convention at the Rio Hotel & Casino from August 3 – 7, 2016. The national rollout of Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles is now underway to 25 states across the country, including California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and many others.

Shmaltz Brewing Company boldly goes to Comic-Con International with a unique Collector’s Edition 50th Anniversary Release commemorating Star Trek 50: The Trouble With Tribbles. This summer and fall, Star Trek celebrates its 50th Anniversary and Shmaltz captures the TV show’s indelible spirit that so many science fiction fans have come to love over the last half century. With The Original Series debuting on NBC in 1966, Star Trek has grown to become the #4 all-time movie franchise broadcasting in over 200 countries and grossing $2.4 billion all-time sales at the box office. CBS Studios has teamed up with Shmaltz Brewing for the only officially licensed Star Trek beers in the United States.

Each year, Reunion Ale is brewed in memory of Virginia MacLean, a dedicated cancer research supporter who lost her own battle with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. MacLean’s wish to continue building awareness on behalf of the IMBCR is achieved through her dear friends and co-workers Alan Shapiro and Pete Slosberg’s (creator of Pete’s Wicked Ale™) work with Shmaltz and Terrapin for the annual release of Reunion Ale.

Shmaltz Brewing Company saddles up for a second year in a row to release its precious and vibrant She’Brew Beer Triple IPA in celebration of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day. For the 2016 batch, the Sisters of Shmaltz came together from literally far and wide — South Carolina, Rochester, Syracuse, retail, wholesale, journalism, sales and staff — to cook up their second annual ode to the goddess of hops.

Shmaltz Brewing Company gave craft beer fans a little sneak peek of their latest variety pack at SF Beer Week, NYC Beer week and Saratoga Beer week. The Upstate New York brewery is now ready for the nationwide release of MANNAge à trois. Joining the brewery’s beloved every day IPA and Gold medal winner at the World Beer Championships, Hop MANNA, are two new Shmaltz IPAs for 2016, Hop Momma and Hop Mania.
