Elgin, IL—With ambitions to revolutionize the beverage packaging industry, Earthrings has created a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging options. The company has officially opened its doors in Elgin, Illinois, and is actively shipping their product to breweries across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. Earthrings beverage rings are 100% curbside recyclable and home-compostable. Made from sustainable cardboard, the rings are coated in a biodegradable formula designed to withstand moisture. Earthrings is officially a registered trademark of the United States Patent and Trademark Office as of November 2024. Based on internal cost comparisons, Earthrings are more cost-effective than many other plastic-free alternatives. Starting at 12.5 cents per unit, they are half the cost of a standard cardboard beverage carton, and cost less than plastic can carriers, which start at roughly 16.5 cents per unit.

By offering a 100% recyclable and compostable alternative, Earthrings hopes to reduce plastic and carbon footprints within the beverage industry.

“The goal of our company is to provide excellent packaging—economically—to our brewery customers, and they want a non-plastic, sustainable product,” said Jim Rouzer, co-owner and president of Earthrings. “These breweries are being as green as they possibly can. We just want to support them and be a small part of their success.”

With more and more breweries seeking eco-friendly packaging alternatives — and their customers demanding them—Earthrings hopes to become a key player in the beverage packaging market.
