Led by Flagship Pilsner, Prost Brewing Co. Reports Robust Growth and Strong Distribution Increases in 2024

Colorado-crafted, German-inspired: Prost’s new Northglenn brewery headquarters opening this year kicks off awards, deepened distribution, and expanded markets

Prost Brewing Co. is maintaining its commitment to German craft bier perfection in 2024 following the opening of its Northglenn biergarten in late 2023. The first half of the year has been characterized by local growth, recognition for their German-inspired, Colorado-crafted biers and expanded distribution. Prost’s unique approach to brewing blends tried-and-true traditional German brewing wisdom with modern brewing principles and innovative technologies.

New Brewery Headquarters in Northglenn

Prost Brewing Co. opened its new brewery headquarters in Northglenn in January, modernizing old world brewing techniques with cutting edge equipment, including a state-of-the-art mill and horizontal lagering tanks, among other technologies. The brewery’s German-imported 50-barrel, 6-vessel Kaspar Schulz brewing system, along with the highest quality, hand-selected ingredients directly from German farmers, allow the Prost team to create the most authentic German-style biers possible.

The brewery’s current annualized run rate is 50k bbls, and the facility is not done growing. The Prost team installed eight 200 bbl horizontal lagering tanks in June, more than doubling its volume potential, with plans to expand production even further. Prost’s Northglenn brewery invites other craft brewers to brew like a German, offering contract brewing and co-packing services. So far in 2024, Prost has hosted 4,500 barrels of contract volume. 

The 60,000 square-foot campus features 10,000 square feet of biergarten space, where bier lovers can gather and enjoy German food and the freshest possible bier.

Growth in Existing Markets

Prost is deepening relationships with bier drinkers within its home state of Colorado and other regional markets. The brewery is up in sales volume this year, reporting 10.3% overall volume growth in Q2. Since January, total local volume increased 30% and on-premise sales are up 27.5%. 

Prost’s flagship Pilsner leads the brewery’s portfolio, with expanded on-premise points of distribution and a 25% increase in half barrel placements. Prost Pilsner (4.9% ABV) is a crisp, clean, floral North German-style lager that balances Germany’s finest malts and noble hops with approachable opulence. 

Awarded Gold Medal at World Beer Cup for Biergarten Lager

In April, Biergarten Lager (4.2% ABV) earned a Gold in the highly competitive International Light Lager category at the World Beer Cup, widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions. Highly attenuated and incredibly crisp, this bier’s dry, balanced flavor exemplifies the style. 

Though this is not Prost Brewing Co.’s first major medal—having earned a Silver medal for its Prost Pils German-style Pilsner and a Gold medal for its Luna Nueva Mexican Lager collaboration with Cheluna Brewing at GABF 2023—this is the first time one of its German-style biers has been recognized by the World Beer Cup. The Prost team was proud of the achievement and pleased to see a traditional German-style bier being recognized as the best in the category.

Expanded distribution with Utah Launch

Prost now offers its lineup of world class biers to Utah craft beer lovers, after successfully launching distribution to the state in May, earning statewide placements in on and off premise establishments. Prost’s biers are now available across seven states: Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, Idaho and Montana.

Looking Ahead 

The team at Prost will further develop its Northglenn brewery in the second half of the year, with continued investment and capacity planned over the next year; and will continue to deliver the highest quality bier, food, experiences and contract brewing services.
