Position Summary

The full-time job of a Content & Communications Manager is critical for the stability and growth of Topa Topa Brewing Co. This role champions and communicates our brand’s heart & soul through cohesive, creative, and compelling multimedia across our marketing channels. As the manager of external communications and the content that articulates it, this role demands equal parts strategic thinker, focused doer, and experienced creative. This role reports to a fractional Director of Marketing and must be comfortable working collaboratively across different departments.



Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation - Capture, create, and edit captivating content intended for use across Topa Topa’s digital marketing channels. This content is pivotal in engaging the Topa Topa fanbase, telling a cohesive brand story, and bringing new fans into the Topa Topa experience..
  • Photography
  • Copywriting
  • Videography
  • Graphics
  • Communications - Plan, curate, schedule/publish promotional content across our internal & external communication channels. This role is responsible for consistently broadcasting thoughtful and on-brand messaging on behalf of Topa Topa and its employees. 
  • Social Media
  • Company Instagram - posts, stories, highlight management
  • Loyalty member Instagram - posts, stories, highlight management
  • Occasional Facebook posting
  • Newsletters
  • Weekly taproom newsletter
  • General newsletter
  • Loyalty members newsletter
  • Internal Editorial Calendar management - with direction from the Director of Marketing, and with insight from other departments, maintain a running calendar document covering:
  • Beer release campaigns
  • Brand story
  • Taproom activities
  • Keystone events
  • Other promotions & partnerships
  • Audience engagement - respond to, and when necessary escalate, comments and reactions on our social media platforms. In addition to actively pushing content out, this role keeps an ear to what’s coming back in from our fanbase, and relishes finding ways to sharpen our relationship with our dedicated customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Fine Art disciplines, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in content & community management or a related role - specifically at a company, agency, or publication
  • Proven experience in delivering compelling content & communication campaigns
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient in newsletter and social media management platforms
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and consistently meet deadlines
  • A creative spirit, with an eye for composition and a knack for storytelling
  • Ability to hone brand voice and style, visually and through copy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and positively with stakeholders
  • An analytical mindset that seeks continuous improvement
  • Experience in PR & media relations a plus
  • Certification in BJCP or Cicerone program, and basic brewing knowledge are all pluses

Opportunity for Growth:

The role of the Content & Communications Manager is immersed in creativity, coordination, and execution. With continued growth and success, along with mentorship from the Director of Marketing and leadership, the Content & Community Manager will ideally develop the skills required to manage people to execute the Content & Community Manager’s tasks. With an increase in management, the Content & Community Manager should be able to be promoted to Marketing Manager, wherein they will oversee at least one to two people assisting in and responsible for the execution of tasks that fall within the purview of the Marketing Department, e.g., broader marketing campaigns, communication channel innovation, and/or deeper taproom & Collective engagement. This would include but not be limited to interns and/or part-time employees. The timing of the promotion from Content & Communications Manager to Marketing Manager is not guaranteed. It is wholly dependent on the Content & Communications Manager’s success in the role and the decision of Topa Topa Brewing Company Management to approve the promotion.

  • Must be able to work from the Ventura office.
